We’ve started the “Be G.R.E.E.N.” environmental practices seminars again, this time for the seasonal and contractual staff. I guess this must be how a teacher feels every day: anxious to impart knowledge to her students, nervous that they won’t respond to her, and worried that they might think that it’s all a bunch of hooey.

“Be G.R.E.E.N.” (Guard, Respect, Educate El Nido) is the company’s initiative to train members of the staff in good environmental practices. All staff are required to attend the 5 seminars and to pass the final exam. The topics:

  1. Ecological Solid Waste Management
  2. Water Conservation
  3. Energy Conservation
  4. Biodiversity Conservation
  5. Environmental Legislation

Everyone who passes is given a shirt as a way of congratulating them and to showcase the staff’s commitment to the environment.

This design won the “Be GREEN T-Shirt Design Contest”, a contest among the staff to (you guessed it!) design the shirt to be given away. The Executive Chef submitted the winning design.
